RECO
(REGO 4 JEJ OL
Public Works Office,
Hong Kong, 24th October, 1901.
I have the honour to report that Messrs Denison and Ram have now, in accordance with request, submitted a complete estimate of the cost of the new Kowloon Waterworks Gravitation scheme.
In forwarding to you their letter of the 14th instant, which contains the estimate referred to, I desire to point out the following essential points of difference between the scheme now proposed and that contained in Mr Gibbs's original Report of January, 1901.
(i). The dam is of masonry and concrete as recommended by Mr Chadwick, instead of an earthen bank.
(ii). The clay puddle core has been omitted, it being now proposed by Mr Binnie to treat the bed 30 feet lower in level.
The Colonial Secretary.
